History of PSRS

In October 1959, a group of devotees in Kuala Lumpur established the Ramakrishna Society in the presence of Swami Siddhatmananda, the then president of the Ramakrishna Mission, Singapore. In course of time it invited many senior swamis of the Ramakrishna Order. Tun Sambanthan, the leader of Indian Community, played an outstanding role in founding and developing this institution.

In 1977, the two organizations were merged and renamed as 'Persatuan Sri Ramakrishna Sarada'. From its inception it had maintained close relationship with the Singapore Centre. In 1999 this organization built a Ramakrishna Temple and monk's quarters at Petaling Jaya, Kuala Lumpur.

It was affiliated in the year 2001 and became an official centre of Ramakrishna Mission, India. As the first president of this centre Swami Tanmayananda had consolidated various activities of the private centres in Malaysia. Swami Virabhadrananda, became the second president of this centre in 2006 and streamlined ashrama activites and served it till 2009.Swami Supriyananda took charge of this centre as the third president in 2010.
